It's my study break! Finally!!!! At last.. i can have some me-time and have some fun. Wee~!!!
Study break started last fri actually. Even so, there was still one assignment to hand up last wed. It was about finding the etymology of my own name and two other words. After some mind boggling search on the internet, norven dear led me to a wonderful website that helps u find out the etymology of all chinese words. You guys should check it out. It's highly recommended for those who have very little knowledge of the chinese language. And that means practically everyone who came from Convent primary. hehe. It turns out, my name means i'll be a person who nurtures and is one who is gentle and yielding. haha... Norven says, tht's so me! hehe.. I think i shd beg to differ. =P
This past sem has been so hectic, with two 100% coursework paper, life has been jam packed with endless assignments rite till the very end. If my myopia increases, i'm so going to sue USM for ruining my eyesight! Sighs.. However, this sem's courses are one the best ones so far. I had Interpretation course. Recording my interpretations onto cassette for lecturer to grade has to be one the most exciting and awakening classes. This class can wake any sleepyhead up. Can't wait to do consecutive interpretation next sem.
Besides having interesting courses, we have interesting happenings in our daily life. One of our unfortunate coursemate, turned out to be our entire class's common enemy. She shall only be known as "my best friend". Apparently the one and only Band 6 girl in our batch, and a 3 time dean-lister, she also is an unfortunate, annoying, two-faced, kiasu, selfish bitch!
My Best Friend's Characteristics:
Unfortunate:
Every sem, she'll end up with an injury.
Sem 1 - broken neck, Sem 2 - broken finger, Sem 3 - broken hand, Sem 4, broken knee (the worse one so far).
Annoying:
Although she's so called Band 6, her spoken english sucks. There's this KL cantonese accent in her speaking that can't be covered. Plus her irritating talking-without-thinking, talking to her, sometimes even listening to her talk, is a torture. She talks without a care for other ppl's feelings. And just because i'm one of the smartest one in class (not trying to boast here. seriously.), she HAS to compare everything i do, to everything she does. She HAS to make sure everything i do, she does the same. Every single tiny detail must not be left out. None whatsoever. Can u imagine, a few tiny mistakes in translation of law terms, she has to check with me if i did the same mistakes as her. So what if i did it correctly or wrongly? U already submitted your damn assignment! Why bother? Happy aren't you when i got wrong too? Stupid.
Two-faced:
She lies in your face that she drives a 'rented' auto car due to her broken left knee, when EVERYONE knows (cos we checked) that she drives a black manual Saga. And when we say out her car license plate no., she looks shocked, and then asks us not to tell others. *disgusted*
She keep insisting her knee is not healed after 4 months. Ok, fine! But walking in front of us without the precious walking stick during a RAINY day, and once even without the knee brace, hoping we wouldn't see, and yet, still have the cheek to claim that your leg ain't healed.?? Yeah.. we sooo believe you. You think we were just born yesterday?
Because of her 'special' circumstances, she gets all the special treatments from lecturers. Her japanese teacher strongly believe that she's innocent. Plus, she gets special one-to-one lectures from her spanish teacher! Can u believe that?! Hypocrite!!
Because of you, everyone doing group work with you suffers! I pity them really.
Ppl got student exchange, you also got "scholarship that's not for exchange studies". When in actual fact, you haven't even applied for the scholarship! Excuses...
Kiasu:
Like i said, no one can see or know anything about her work, her assignments, her info. BUT, she MUST know everyone's single little detail. Especially those who are smart, she'll be 'nice' to them just to get their info. Even in group work, her part shall remain a secret until the very end.
Selfish:
She has a car, she expects others to walk all the way to her hostel to have discussions at nite, just because u are unsatisfied with the part they did FOR you. If u think it's unfair, do it yourself! Why drag everyone with you? Using your idiotic excuse of your broken knee to make sure everyone obeys u is too much and no longer effective.
Everyone HAS to listen to u. Even if 5 oppose you, in the end, they'll follow u to avoid conflicts, and yet u still dare to force everyone to do together with you cos u think it's UNFAIR. And everything ppl do for u, must be ASAP. Who are you?!
In a nut shell: Someone you hoped you never knew.
To think i USED to be your friend. You even wanted to be my BFF! I tried to be one, but u disappointed me. I tried to overlook your faults, but it was getting too obvious to deny. I chose not to believe others till i see your true colors with my own eyes. I wanted to hear your part of the story, but it was always not convincing enough. Now that i have seen through your masquerade, you no longer have my trust and stop hoping we'll be friends, let alone BFF. I shall continue talking to u, replying your sms'es, i shall only be just your coursemate and nothing more. So far, u've not done anything serious to me. But the day u cross the line, shall be the day i disregard all ties with you.
Whew.. that was tiring. Oh gosh.. I can't believe i dedicated almost the entire blog bitching about someone! I haven't scolded someone in such a long time. FYI, she has been the hot topic every night since a few months ago. Every time, there's a meet up with other coursemates, the slight mention of her name, can turn into conversations (more like gossips) for hours! Well, at least she did contributed something good for us. hehe..
On a brighter note, i applied for student exchange. And next sem, if all goes well, i mite be on my way to CANADA!!! - University of British Columbia!!!! Still hoping very hard that i'll get the scholarship. Without it, everything will be just a dream on my part. So ppl, pls pray for me ya! Norven, i hope u get to go to Germany as well!
Oki doki, it's an end for now. Got to translate something for my lecturer and tmr's gonna be an early day for me. Got to teach Std 6 Maths tuition!! :S It's gonna be my first time teaching! Omg.. Scared shit! I shall be testing my patience level tmr. Who knows? I mite find my career path in teaching! lol.. =P
